Today’s concepts are about being more efficient and eco-friendly and can even include the luxury of a swimming pool. For example, a natural pool system can be created that combines ecology and economy by separating the swimming area and a regeneration zone with a wall. Within the regeneration zone, the pool’s impurities and excess nutrients are decomposed by plants and microorganisms. This plant filter-system ensures clear water while keeping algae growth to a minimum. Even though this concept still includes pumps and filters, et al., the final look is serene and in sync with nature. Your own garden landscape created with indigenous plants keeps your pool sparkling and as clear as Hawaii’s blue skies. The lanai or decks that are used in this design are modular, made out of wood or natural stone continuing the natural look in your backyard. If you do not want a pool then create a small fishpond or an aquaponic center. I grew up surrounded by family members who love to cook. I love to cook and bake as well. So when it was time to look for a home to buy, the kitchen was very important to me. My first kitchen needed rehabbing but it was already spacious and open and had lots of counter space. The kitchen in my current home is very close to being my dream kitchen. It has two ovens, wine refrigerator, a pantry, a small desk and plenty of counter space. There is room for bar stools at the counter. I enjoy having family and friends over to visit and they always gather in my kitchen. The bar stools and the open plan – the kitchen opens right into the family room – makes it possible for my guests to sit and talk to me while I cook. With its good lighting, windows and glass doors that open to the backyard, the kitchen is bright and sunny.

If I had to find one thing that is missing and preventing this from being my perfect kitchen, I would have to say that I would really love to have warming drawers. If you are not familiar with warming drawers, do a Google search. You may be surprised at how this one item can make your life so much easier. For example, if you and your family have conflicting schedules and just don’t have the time to sit down to dinner together, the warming oven will keep dinner warm and ready to eat without overcooking. The warming drawers also come in handy if you do a lot of entertaining.
